The huge salsa meets tropical music party is back at The Faversham in Leeds after a three month gap. Promoters La Combinacion Perfecta DJs have once again pulled together the finest cast of DJs to rock three separate rooms for this special night. Calle Ocho features all the latin and tropical music styles featured at their other clubnights such as Cuba Libre, Carnaval, Sauce, 100% Cubano, Cuba Libre, Sambaloco and Rumberos but under the same roof.
In the main room, 100% salsa with international DJs Lubi Jovanovic (Fania Records/100% Cubano), Fabio Bahia (Brasilian DJ and resident at The Faversham’s Carnaval for 5 years now) and Dr Salsa (main DJ at the Scottish Salsa Congress) playing salsa, timba, merengue, bachata and mambo from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic!
In the urban latino/reggaeton room, the North’s finest DJs Silvao (Mistura Latina and Carnaval) and MrB (Cuba Libre) will be rocking reggaeton, Cubaton, latin hiphop, r&b latino, baile funk and latin house to the younger Latino and urban crowd – from Daddy Yankee to Pitbull!
In the tropical room, DJs Anita from Spain (Barrio Latino Sheffield) and Antonio from Angola (Cubana Sheffield) will be playing the best Angolan and Antillian sounds including kizomba, kuduru, semba, kompa and zouk!
Kizomba is sweeping the UK latin and world music scene and La Combinacion Perfecta, as always, were amongst the first to bring it to Leeds. They introduced salsa to Leeds in the late 1980s, Cuban music to the city at the legendary Casa Latina clubnight in the 1990s, and at the start of the last decade, they were the first DJs to play reggaeton and urban latin outside London! Always two steps ahead of the competition and always the promoters of Leeds’ finest Latino parties, the first two Calle Ocho parties at The Faversham had over 400 people in...this one is expected to be even more rammed! No advance tickets so get down 10pm to guarantee entry.
