Alvin Purple may be unsigned but there's not a hint of dodgy DIY about their slickly produced rhythm and blues/trip hop/electronica. Laid back vocals over a fierce rhythm section, layered with ambient electronica and greenwood-esque guitars and armed with songs that never quite lose their pop hooks.
Think Beth Gibbons in a back room bar or a chain-smoking Imelda May, kicking back with The Beta Band and the White Stripes. With a BBC live Session, a Tom Robinson BBC6 music introduction under their belts and sold out London Shows, they're currently producing their first single/EP with Will Jackson at Soundworks, Leeds.
